Myanmar: Travel blog with tips and reports
The former Burma has only recently been on the list of countries that you can easily visit. Since the political opening in 2011/2012, Myanmar has changed from year to year and offers travelers insights into a country that is going through perhaps the greatest change in its history.
Myanmar is a multi-ethnic state, over 135 different ethnic groups with their own cultures live here. Especially in Burmese cuisine, if you can call it that, the influence of neighboring countries is also reflected.
As a tourist, there is traditionally a lot of culture on the program, because Myanmar has plenty of it. It is not for nothing that the surname is "Land of a Thousand Pagodas" - and in fact that is an understatement.
As a travel destination, Myanmar actually has a wide range of offers, ranging from the urban jungle to the real jungle, from dream beaches to mountain landscapes, and from Starbucks to the tea house.
Of course there is hardly any infrastructure available in many places, but the incredibly warm and helpful Burmese make certain development deficits quickly forgotten.

Yangon, the capital of hearts, should not be missing on any trip to Myanmar. Not only the all-shining Shwedagon Pagoda is a highlight, the city itself is a sight. There is also a lot to discover in the somewhat quieter area of Yangon, such as the historic city of Bago with its over 20 temples and pagodas.
Bagan is one of the most beautiful and important travel destinations in Myanmar. There are over 2000 pagodas and temples to be discovered in an area of around 40 square kilometers. The old royal city is an absolute highlight, especially for those interested in culture and history. To the southeast of Bagan is Mount Popa, at the top of which the spirits of Myanmar live.
In the heart of Myanmar is Mandalay, Myanmar's last royal city. Both in Mandalay and in the surrounding area you can find some of the most important religious sites in the country. A little further east, in Shan State, around Kalaw and Inle Lake is a true paradise for nature and trekking fans.
Myanmar is not necessarily known for a beach holiday, but the west coast of the country is certainly a highlight for fans of wide unspoilt beaches. And even though Myanmar's Andaman coast is enjoying increasing popularity, it is still wonderful to relax here, which is not least due to the sometimes time-consuming journey. One of the most important archaeological cities is Mrauk U with its very well preserved temples and pagodas.
Myanmar's south is currently still off the beaten track, but that is sure to change in the next few years. Around Hpa-An and Mawlamyine there are important religious pilgrimage sites such as the Golden Rock. The wide, beautiful landscapes and enchanted caves also attract more and more travelers to the south of the country. In addition, the first of the countless beaches and island are slowly being made accessible to tourists. Discoverers are right here.
